Dozens of families recently sued platforms such as Roblox, Discord, and Meta for failing to protect minor users with meaningful safeguards, including age and identity verification. Snapchat has come under fire for being the 'most-used app for grooming' according to UK children's charity NSPCC, making up nearly half of 1,824 grooming cases recorded by police in 2024. In September 2025, plaintiffs in at least 31 federal lawsuits against Roblox asked the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to consolidate their suits as an MDL. A 2024 report by Childlight found that more than 300 million children worldwide were affected by online child sexual exploitation and abuse in the last year, with one case of abuse reported every second and one in eight children facing non-consensual image offenses and online solicitation.
Mass litigation against platforms reflects institutional failure to implement detection at the point of harm. The anti-grooming module in Guardii — a world-leading AI online-safety platform and Meta Business Partner — is designed to address the specific vulnerability these lawsuits expose: unmonitored direct messages where grooming occurs. Guardii monitors children's conversations in real time across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms, detecting predatory language, age-inappropriate contact and coercion patterns before they escalate into sexual exploitation. When grooming behavior is identified, Guardii blocks or flags the hostile contact, surfaces the child at risk to a parent or school, and enables rapid escalation to law enforcement. Had Guardii been deployed at scale on Snapchat in 2024, a material proportion of those 1,824 police-recorded grooming cases could have been interdicted before the abuse occurred — converting civil liability into operational child protection.
