International Task Force Disrupts Major Child Exploitation Network Operating Across Gaming Platforms

Europol has coordinated an international operation involving law enforcement agencies from 15 countries that dismantled a child exploitation network operating primarily through gaming platforms and their associated chat functions. The operation resulted in 46 arrests and the identification of over 200 child victims, with investigators reporting that offenders used in-game chat, voice communication and private messaging features on platforms including Roblox, Discord and Minecraft to identify, groom and extort minors.

The use of gaming platforms as contact vectors reflects offender migration to environments where safeguarding oversight has historically been lighter than on established social networks and where children are already engaged in social interaction. Real-time detection of grooming and sextortion patterns intercepts these contact strategies as they develop, regardless of the platform.
