International Operation Leads to 95 Arrests in Child Sexual Abuse Material Distribution Case

Guardii Analysis

Law enforcement agencies from 17 countries across Latin America and Europe apprehended 95 individuals in a coordinated operation targeting online distribution of child sexual abuse material. International Effort Confluencia involved four separate law enforcement actions conducted between March and September 2026, resulting in the execution of 127 search warrants and the rescue of a 5-year-old victim. Authorities in Ecuador uncovered a suspect with approximately 15 gigabytes of CSAM, while Panama arrested the administrator of a group disseminating abusive material to over 700 users. In Argentina, a suspect is accused of sextortion after allegedly contacting over 260 girls worldwide and threatening those who refused to provide explicit content. INTERPOL highlighted that platforms are increasingly used for grooming, coordinating abuse, and commercializing illegal content.

The scale of the Confluencia operation, spanning two continents and recovering a child from active abuse, illustrates the cross-border coordination now required to pursue CSAM and sextortion networks. Detection at the point of contact is the operational gap. Guardii's anti-CSAM and anti-sextortion modules identify the coercion and escalation patterns that precede image production and distribution, intercepting threats in direct-message conversations on Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms before material is created or shared. Where law enforcement traces material after distribution, Guardii surfaces the threat in real time, flagging a child under pressure to produce or share images and enabling immediate intervention by a parent, school or authority before the harm is documented.
