Indiana child exploitation operation leads to 61 arrests, officials say

Indiana State Police announced that Operation Guardian Angel, conducted throughout August 2026 by the state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, resulted in 61 arrests and the rescue of nine children from ongoing abuse. The month-long operation focused on hands-on sexual abuse, sextortion and online exploitation through proactive undercover investigations and file-sharing work, alongside 237 reactive cases driven by citizen tips. Six of those arrested were registered sex offenders, five were identified as hands-on offenders, and investigators identified more than 80 victims statewide.

When predators use direct messages to coerce teenagers into producing explicit material and then extort payment or compliance, real-time detection of escalating threats before the child responds can prevent the harm entirely.
