Delhi Police registers FIR over alleged circulation of child sexual abuse material on Meta platforms
Guardii Analysis
Delhi Police Special Cell registered a First Information Report on October 8, 2026 under Sections 67 and 67B of the Information Technology Act following a complaint that flagged approximately 10 links allegedly containing child sexual exploitation and abuse material on Meta platforms. The development follows an inquiry by India's National Commission for Protection of Child Rights into alleged CSEAM advertisements on Meta platforms, and the Commission's continued follow-up prompted Meta to revise its policy on reporting cases of child sexual abuse to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.
Platform policy revision in response to regulator pressure addresses reporting obligations after material is already circulating. The Guardii anti-CSAM detection module, deployed as a world-leading AI online-safety platform and Meta Business Partner, operates upstream of the reporting chain: it blocks or flags hostile contact containing child sexual abuse material before it reaches the target, detecting the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than handing anyone a feed of what was said. By surfacing CSAM distribution attempts in real time across platforms including Instagram, the system enables rapid escalation to the right authority in an emergency while material is still in motion, not after it has been flagged by users or civil-society complainants.
