Concerns grow in Pakistan over deepening crisis of online child sexual exploitation
Guardii Analysis
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported that Pakistan is among the South Asian countries most affected by online child exploitation, recording approximately 41.3 cases of exposure to child sexual abuse material per 10,000 people. The HRCP cited the Islamabad-based organisation Sahil's annual report Cruel Numbers 2024, which documented 3,364 reported cases of child abuse nationwide including sexual abuse, abduction and child marriage, noting that widespread connectivity, weak regulatory oversight and limited digital literacy have made Pakistani children particularly vulnerable to grooming, blackmail, sexual coercion and trafficking through online channels.
Real-time pattern detection addresses the operational gap the report identifies. Guardii's anti-grooming and anti-sextortion modules monitor direct-message conversations across platforms for sustained targeting, escalation and coercion, reporting the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than handing anyone a feed of what was said. By flagging hostile contact before it reaches the target and surfacing a child in crisis to a parent, school or professional, the system enables intervention at the point of contact, detecting threat patterns in environments where regulatory oversight remains weak and under-reporting leaves most online abuse unreported.
