What Is Cult 764? Inside the Violent Online Network Targeting Vulnerable Children

Guardii Analysis

The FBI issued another warning on 23 September 2026 describing a continuing sharp increase in activity involving 764 and related violent online networks. FBI Philadelphia confirmed that investigations connected to 764-type networks had risen to more than four hundred fifty subjects across the United States. The networks recruit children via gaming platforms and social media, grooming them to commit acts including self-harm, animal cruelty, sexual exploitation and production of child sexual abuse material, with personal or intimate information weaponized to threaten, humiliate or blackmail victims into increasingly harmful behaviour.

Detecting 764 activity demands recognition that sextortion is only one tactic within a broader coercive pattern that may escalate to physical violence or suicide. Guardii's detection modules for grooming, sextortion, child sexual abuse material and acute distress operate in combination, identifying not just a single inappropriate request but the sustained targeting, escalation and psychological control that characterise 764 interactions across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms. Because Guardii surfaces a child in crisis to a parent, school or professional when the threat pattern emerges rather than waiting for visible injury, it enables intervention at the point where a victim is still being groomed and before coercion has progressed to self-harm, animal abuse or the production of extreme content.
