Victoria updates anti-bullying policy for schools following federal review
Guardii Analysis
The Victorian Department of Education announced on 4 November 2024 that it will revise its student safety and bullying prevention policies in response to the federal Anti-Bullying Rapid Review, which found inconsistencies in how Australian states manage school bullying and cyberbullying incidents. Victoria's existing framework requires schools to document and respond to bullying complaints, but the review identified gaps in guidance for handling online harassment that extends beyond school hours and school-controlled networks. The department confirmed it will work with the Commonwealth to align updated policies with a revised National Safe Schools Framework.
