Victoria rolls out mandatory anti-bullying training for all state school staff

Guardii Analysis

Victoria will require all teachers and support staff in government schools to complete updated anti-bullying and cyberbullying response training by the end of the year, as part of the state's implementation of recommendations from the national Anti-Bullying Rapid Review. The training package includes modules on recognising signs of online harassment, responding to disclosures and coordinating with external agencies, and is being delivered in partnership with the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the Office of the eSafety Commissioner.

Training equips staff to respond once harm is visible, but earlier detection changes the timeline of intervention. Guardii identifies patterns of cyberbullying, coercion and escalation as they emerge in children's direct messages, alerting school wellbeing teams or designated contacts to a child under duress before outward signs appear or the child chooses to disclose. A world-leading AI platform developed in partnership with Meta, it operates across the messaging environments where most student interactions occur, providing schools with the operational intelligence to act on risk in real time rather than retrospectively after a trained teacher notices behavioural change.
