Victoria launches Let's Stop Bullying campaign targeting online and in-school harassment
Guardii Analysis
The Victorian Government has launched the Let's Stop Bullying campaign, a state-wide public awareness initiative featuring television, online and school-based resources aimed at students, parents and teachers. The campaign emphasises bystander intervention and reporting mechanisms, and coincides with additional funding for school wellbeing coordinators, though it does not mandate technical measures to detect or interrupt cyberbullying as it occurs in the direct messages and group chats where most online harassment now takes place.
Awareness campaigns and reporting hotlines depend on recognition and disclosure, but many children do not report cyberbullying until harm has already escalated. Detection technology that operates where the conversation happens closes that gap. Guardii's cyberbullying module monitors direct messages across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord and Roblox for sustained targeting, coercion and escalation patterns, blocking hostile contact before it reaches the child and alerting a parent or school when the system identifies a child in acute distress, so that the bystander intervention the campaign promotes is automated at the point of first contact and the adult with duty of care is equipped to act immediately rather than waiting for a disclosure that may never come.
