US Senators Introduce REPORT Act to Mandate Platform Disclosure of Child Safety Data

Guardii Analysis

Senators Richard Blumenthal and Marsha Blackburn introduced the REPORT Act in October 2024, requiring social media platforms to disclose child sexual abuse material reports, grooming incidents and enforcement actions to the Federal Trade Commission quarterly, with aggregated data made public annually. The bill aims to increase transparency around the scale of online child exploitation and hold platforms accountable for safety measures.

Mandatory disclosure establishes the evidentiary foundation for accountability, but effective intervention requires systems that detect harm as it unfolds. Guardii detects grooming, sextortion and child sexual abuse material including AI-generated content in real time, reporting the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than handing anyone a feed of what was said, and surfaces a child in crisis to a parent, school or professional before an incident becomes a statistic in a quarterly compliance report, working as a world-leading AI online-safety platform across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other services.
