The UK's National Crime Agency and National Police Chiefs' Council called for under-16 restrictions on social media, gaming, messaging and AI platforms, warning that current platform features enable grooming, sextortion and coercion. The NCA estimates 840,000 adults in Britain pose sexual risk to children, with referrals linked to suspected online child sexual abuse reaching almost 100,000 in 2025—equivalent to approximately 250 reports daily.
