UAE-led operation thwarts 123.71 million online fraud attempts

Guardii Analysis

The UAE Ministry of Interior led Operation Confrontation Ghost, a coordinated international effort involving law enforcement from 30 countries, INTERPOL, the Global Anti-Scam Alliance and 13 private-sector partners that identified more than 39 billion US dollars in funds and digital assets linked to fraudulent activities and thwarted over 123.71 million online fraud attempts worldwide. The operation, which ran from October 19 to 23, 2026, focused on combating AI-enabled fraud, digital financial crime, technology-facilitated sexual extortion and other organised digital fraud schemes, emphasising real-time intelligence sharing, tracking of illicit financial flows and accelerated responses to digital threats across government, technology and financial sectors.

Operation Confrontation Ghost blocked tens of millions of fraud attempts through coordinated disruption at the network and financial level, yet the underlying dynamic remains unchanged: offenders contact children on social media, gaming platforms and messaging apps, coerce them into producing explicit material, and then extort payment or compliance. Detection at the moment of contact offers a higher-yield intervention than tracking payment flows after the crime has occurred. Guardii, a world-leading AI online-safety platform, detects grooming, sextortion and coercive escalation as they emerge in direct-message conversations across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms. It surfaces a child in crisis to a parent, school or safeguarding professional, blocks hostile contact before it reaches the target, and enables rapid escalation to authorities in an emergency, reporting the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than reading every message. While financial and intelligence networks disrupt payments and prosecute offenders after harm has occurred, pattern-recognition technology intercepts the conversation before a child sends an image or makes a payment, addressing the root dynamic rather than its downstream consequences.
