Two brothers from Lagos sentenced to 210 months for sextortion leading to teen suicide

Samuel Ogoshi, 24, and Samson Ogoshi, 21, two Nigerian men based in Lagos, were sentenced on September 5, 2024, to 210 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for their role in an international financially motivated sextortion scheme. The case stems from their extortion of a 17-year-old Michigan victim who took his own life after being targeted, illustrating the lethal consequences of financially motivated sextortion that targets male minors between the ages of 14 and 17. The Justice Department noted that financial losses are not the only impact, with an alarming number of suicides identified among male victims of such schemes.
