Türkiye's age assurance law sets minimum age of 15 for having social media accounts

Guardii Analysis

Starting 1 November 2026, Türkiye will require users to be at least 15 before using social media and will mandate platforms to verify every new user's age through the state's e-government portal, e-Devlet, which issues age tokens designed to minimize data collection. The law also restricts profiling, advertising and addictive features for teen accounts.

A blanket age minimum restricts compliant users but does not address the behaviour of those who evade verification or move to unmonitored platforms. Anti-grooming and anti-sextortion modules deployed by Guardii analyse the shape of a conversation as it unfolds, detecting coercion, escalation and sustained targeting before a predator makes contact, and surface a child in crisis to a parent or authority without requiring age credentials from every participant. Blocking hostile contact at the point of harm is a surgical intervention that complements rather than replaces access control.
