South Australia rolls out Let's Stop Bullying resources as state aligns with national framework
Guardii Analysis
South Australia has begun distributing Let's Stop Bullying teaching resources and professional development modules to all public schools as part of its adoption of the revised National Framework to Support Safe and Inclusive School Communities. The state's Education Department announced that the materials include updated guidance on recognising cyberbullying, responding to peer-to-peer image sharing, and supporting students targeted on gaming and social platforms. Officials said the rollout follows the Anti-Bullying Rapid Review's finding that teachers often lack training to identify when online interactions constitute serious harm versus typical peer conflict, and that inconsistent definitions across jurisdictions have hampered cross-border incident management.
Teacher training improves recognition once an adult observes or is told about a concerning interaction, but the challenge is that most harmful conversations happen in private channels where no adult is present and where the child may not feel safe disclosing. Detection modules within Guardii's platform monitor direct-message patterns for coercion, sustained targeting and escalation on Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other services, report the shape and seriousness of a conversation to a parent or school professional rather than exposing the full transcript, and surface a child in acute distress before the abuse requires the student to recognise and articulate what is happening. By operating at the point of contact, the platform provides the situational awareness that teaching resources alone cannot deliver when harm is unfolding in real time and out of sight.
