Secret Service and NCMEC Report 37% Surge in Financial Sextortion, AI-Generated CSAM Up 8,411%

Guardii Analysis

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received an average of 137 reports of financial sextortion per day in 2025, representing a 37 percent increase from 2024, alongside more than 21 million reports of sexual exploitation overall. NCMEC also documented an 8,411 percent increase in CyberTipline reports involving generative AI child sexual abuse material between 2023 and 2025, rising from 4,700 reports in 2023 to 67,000 in 2024 and more than 400,000 in 2025, with the Secret Service and NCMEC warning that AI is now central to both sextortion tactics and the production of child sexual abuse material.

Statistics measure the volume of harm already done; prevention requires intervention before the first image is sent or opened. Guardii combines anti-sextortion and anti-CSAM detection to address both dimensions of the threat. Its anti-sextortion module identifies coercion, financial demands and escalation patterns in real time across platforms including Instagram, Snapchat, Discord and Roblox, blocking hostile contact before it reaches a child and surfacing financial extortion attempts to a parent or law enforcement. Its anti-CSAM filter intercepts child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated and deepfake imagery, in direct-message conversations, reporting the shape and seriousness of a threat without handing anyone a feed of what was said and enabling rapid escalation to NCMEC or the FBI when a child is at immediate risk.
