Saskatchewan police warn of sextortion scam targeting teenagers

Guardii Analysis

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation unit reported receiving more than 20 sextortion reports from child victims in September 2026 alone. Offenders establish false identities on chat-based platforms like Snapchat, pretending to be peers before coercing victims into sending intimate images and then demanding money.

Real-time anti-sextortion detection intercepts this pattern of escalation before the threat materializes. Guardii's sextortion-detection module, deployed across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord and other platforms, identifies the characteristic sequence of trust-building, image solicitation and threat as it unfolds, flagging the hostile contact before money changes hands or a child reaches crisis, and enabling immediate escalation to the right authority when a financial extortion demand is detected.
