Queensland commits funding boost to school wellbeing teams under revised bullying framework
Guardii Analysis
Queensland has announced an additional 47 million dollars over three years to expand school-based wellbeing and counselling services, alongside new mandatory reporting protocols for cyberbullying incidents that meet a threshold of severity or involve criminal conduct. The funding announcement follows endorsement of the national Anti-Bullying Rapid Review and is intended to ensure every state high school has access to a fulltime wellbeing coordinator by mid-2027, with priority given to schools in regional and remote areas where students report higher rates of unaddressed online abuse.
Wellbeing staff respond most effectively when alerted to emerging harm rather than disclosed crisis. The Guardii platform surfaces children subjected to cyberbullying, coercion or acute distress in their online messaging, notifying designated school contacts or parents as patterns of harm develop, enabling early professional engagement before a situation deteriorates. Operating across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms, the AI detection system identifies escalation and sustained targeting in real time, giving wellbeing coordinators the operational visibility to intervene while support can still prevent serious psychological harm rather than manage its aftermath.
