Nudify Apps in Google & AI Search: 2026 Study

Independent researchers conducting searches on September 23, 2026, found nudify app websites appearing on page one of Google searches for terms like nudify app, undress app, and clothes remover ai, with AI assistants including Perplexity citing these tools by name and Claude citing them as sources. The TAKE IT DOWN Act, signed into law in May 2025, made it a federal crime to publish non-consensual intimate images including AI-generated ones, and since May 19, 2026 the Federal Trade Commission enforces its requirement that covered platforms remove reported images within 48 hours, yet app discovery through search remains unregulated.
Search visibility is the access point: a child, adolescent or offender who searches for the tool finds it, then uses it to generate material that harms a real person. For children already in contact with a predator, that sequence begins earlier, in private messages where an offender introduces the idea, normalizes the request or directs the child to the tool.
