NSW schools to get new anti-bullying resources as part of national framework response
Guardii Analysis
New South Wales has announced a suite of anti-bullying resources for public schools in response to the updated National Framework to Support Safe and Inclusive School Communities, which replaced the earlier Safe and Supportive School Communities framework in late 2024. The NSW Department of Education is rolling out training modules for teachers, updated reporting pathways for cyberbullying incidents, and strengthened protocols for engaging parents when online harassment escalates, following recommendations from the Commonwealth's Anti-Bullying Rapid Review that called for greater consistency across jurisdictions in how schools identify and respond to both physical and digital harassment.
Targeted detection offers a structural alternative to the resource constraints that limit how quickly schools can identify which students are in crisis. Guardii's cyberbullying detection module analyses patterns of sustained targeting, escalation and coercion across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms in real time, surfacing a child under severe or escalating attack to a parent or school safeguarding team before the harm compounds, and enabling rapid escalation to the right authority when the conversation crosses into criminal threat or self-harm risk. By flagging the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than requiring educators to triage hundreds of screenshots, the platform closes the operational gap between policy intention and the speed at which digital abuse unfolds.
