National school bullying awareness campaign launched
Guardii Analysis
Education Matters Magazine reported on 13 August 2026 that the Australian Government's Let's Stop Bullying campaign, launched four days earlier, features the slogan Bullying is harder to spot than you think and directs audiences to LetsStopBullying.gov.au for free resources. The campaign responds to the 2025 Anti-Bullying Rapid Review, which documented that over half of young people experienced online bullying and that cyberbullying complaints to the eSafety Commissioner surged 455 per cent from 2019 to 2024. A key recommendation requires schools to respond to bullying complaints or incidents within two school days, and by Term 1 2027 all Australian schools must incorporate the expectations of the National Framework for Addressing Bullying in Australian Schools into their published policies.
Recognition that bullying is harder to spot than you think acknowledges the operational reality that cyberbullying unfolds in encrypted conversations, ephemeral messaging apps and private channels beyond the reach of school visibility. Guardii's detection architecture addresses that invisibility by monitoring the shape and seriousness of direct-message exchanges across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms in real time, identifying patterns of sustained targeting, escalation and coercion without reading every message. Schools adopting the National Framework gain the capability to surface a child experiencing cyberbullying before the two-day response clock starts, intervening at the conversation level rather than waiting for a formal complaint, and enabling rapid escalation to the appropriate authority when the pattern indicates acute risk.
