Platform-integrated detection offers a mechanism that complements framework-level policy without requiring blanket access restrictions. Real-time monitoring of direct-message exchanges—filtering for bullying language, coercion patterns and escalating harassment—surfaces hostile contact to school safeguarding teams before a child experiences sustained harm, and enables early intervention by counsellors or restorative-justice practitioners. Systems that intercept abuse at the point of contact align with the framework's duty-of-care principles while preserving students' ability to communicate and learn online.
