A Graves County grand jury indicted Sadie Flores on 24 September 2026 on grooming and evidence tampering charges, marking the first prosecution under Kentucky's new grooming statute which took effect on 15 July 2026. Flores, a 25-year-old former middle school teacher, was originally arrested on 7 August following an investigation by the Graves County Sheriff's Office into allegations involving a 14-year-old student. The grooming charge was filed just 23 days after the law took effect.
Statutes that criminalise grooming behaviour establish liability after contact has already been made and evidence gathered, but they do not prevent the initial approach or the escalation that precedes it.
