INTERPOL Operation Jackal IV: West African Crime Networks Shift to Sextortion of Minors

Guardii Analysis

INTERPOL announced the results of Operation Jackal IV, an eight-month international operation spanning 22 countries from November 2025 to June 2026, which led to the arrest of 58 suspects and the identification of 263 others linked to West African organised crime networks including Black Axe. Beyond the enforcement action, the operation revealed a critical trend: West African organised crime groups are increasingly using sextortion to target minors, with victims as young as 14. Participants included Nigeria, South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, France, the United States and the United Kingdom.

When international crime networks diversify into child exploitation, rapid interdiction at the point of first contact becomes operationally decisive. Anti-sextortion detection flags the grooming phase, the coercive demand and the threat escalation in real time, enabling an urgent report to law enforcement while the child is still online and the offender is still active. Guardii is a Meta Business Partner delivering AI-driven online-safety systems that detect these patterns across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms, surfacing a child in crisis to a parent, school safeguarding lead or specialist agency without requiring anyone to read the message content, and enabling coordinated cross-border enforcement before financial or image-based extortion becomes irreversible harm.
