Interpol Operation Jackal IV disrupts cybercrime networks using sextortion to target minors
Guardii Analysis
Interpol announced on August 25, 2026, the results of Operation Jackal IV, an eight-month coordinated operation running from November 2025 to June 2026 across 22 countries that resulted in 58 arrests and the seizure of approximately 379,000 US dollars in assets. Beyond the arrests and financial recoveries, Interpol reported that the operation uncovered the rise of sextortion tactics used to target minors as young as 14, with groups contacting children on social media or gaming platforms, building trust and urging them to share intimate photographs before threatening to release the images if a ransom is not paid.
Cross-border criminal networks rely on anonymised contact and the delay between grooming and extortion to avoid detection. A Meta Business Partner AI platform that monitors conversation patterns in real time can detect escalation, coercion and financial demands across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, gaming platforms and other channels where offenders operate, blocking or flagging hostile accounts before they reach the target. Guardii's anti-sextortion filter surfaces the threat at the point of initial pressure, when law enforcement agencies coordinating through Interpol or national task forces can act on intelligence that includes the shape and seriousness of the conversation, the timeline of escalation and the jurisdiction of the child at risk, enabling rapid multi-agency response without requiring investigators to reconstruct events after harm has occurred.
