INTERPOL Busts Global Child Abuse Network, Arrests 95 as Horrific Digital Trade Spans 17 Countries
Guardii Analysis
INTERPOL coordinated four operations between March and September 2026 that resulted in 95 arrests across 17 countries in Latin America and Europe, targeting distribution of child sexual abuse material through messaging platforms and cryptocurrency payments. The effort, named Operation Confluencia, executed 127 search warrants and rescued a five-year-old victim in Colombia whose parent allegedly produced and sold abusive material; investigators in Panama arrested an administrator of a distribution group with over 700 users, while authorities in Argentina identified a suspect accused of sextorting more than 260 girls worldwide, and Ecuador uncovered approximately 15GB of CSAM. INTERPOL warned that messaging apps and cryptocurrency channels are increasingly exploited to groom children, coordinate abuse, and commercialise illegal content, with victims suffering continuing harm as material is repeatedly circulated.
When a child accepts contact on Discord, Roblox or a messaging app from an offender operating across borders and moving payments through cryptocurrency, the anti-sextortion and anti-CSAM modules built into the Guardii platform intercept coercive escalation and extortion demands in real time, flagging the conversation to a parent or authority before payment is demanded or imagery is produced. Backed by Startmate and operating as a Meta Business Partner, Guardii detects the shape of harm rather than handing anyone a feed of message content, identifying the sustained targeting and financial coercion patterns documented in this operation before the child is placed at acute risk, and enabling rapid escalation to the right agency when cross-border threat indicators are present.
