FBI Reports 26,000% Surge in AI-Generated Child Sexual Abuse Videos
Guardii Analysis
The Internet Watch Foundation documented a 26,000 percent increase in AI-generated videos involving child sexual abuse material, rising from 13 videos in the prior year to nearly 3,500, with 65 percent classified as Category A under UK law, depicting the most severe forms of abuse including sexual torture and rape. The FBI warned that artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing how criminals sexually exploit children, with reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children growing from nearly 5,000 in 2023 to more than 182,000 two years later, representing a crisis in both volume and sophistication as perpetrators manipulate innocent family photos posted to social media.
Guardii's anti-CSAM detection module, developed by a Meta Business Partner and backed by Startmate, is engineered to intercept AI-generated and manipulated child sexual abuse material before it reaches a target by analysing behavioural signals and conversation patterns rather than relying solely on image hashing. Where conventional content moderation struggles with novel synthetic imagery that evades signature-based systems, Guardii detects the preparatory grooming, coercive solicitation and distribution behaviours that precede and accompany CSAM offences across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox and other platforms, enabling rapid escalation to law enforcement and surfacing children at acute risk to parents, schools and specialist agencies in real time.
