FBI and French authorities seize deepfake CSAM-for-sale websites
Guardii Analysis
The FBI and French authorities seized two websites disseminating child sexual exploitation material and AI-generated deepfakes, arresting a suspected 25-year-old French administrator in a joint cybercrime operation, with a seizure warrant filed October 2 in the Eastern District of Virginia by an Arlington County police detective and FBI cybercrime task force member revealing law enforcement first became aware of the websites in 2024, which advertised hacked, leaked and stolen CSAM of young girls.
Coordinated international enforcement demonstrates that AI-generated CSAM is treated as criminal regardless of whether a real child appears in the final image. Guardii, a world-leading AI online-safety platform and Meta Business Partner, deploys anti-CSAM detection that flags both photographic and AI-generated child sexual abuse material, including deepfake imagery, at the point of attempted upload or transmission in direct messages, blocking distribution before content reaches a recipient or enters circulation, and enabling platform operators to escalate to the FBI, Interpol or national cybercrime units when synthetic or real CSAM is identified in a user exchange.
