Europol Dismantles International Child Sexual Abuse Network in Operation Blackwrist

Guardii Analysis

Europol coordinated Operation Blackwrist in October 2024, resulting in 79 arrests across 25 countries and the identification of 31 child victims, targeting an encrypted platform used to produce and distribute child sexual abuse material. Law enforcement agencies seized servers in Germany and the Netherlands, disrupting a network that had operated for over three years and amassed more than 200,000 images and videos.

Detection at the point of contact intercepts the conversation before material is shared or a victim is exploited. Guardii's anti-CSAM detection module, which includes AI-generated and deepfake content, identifies coercive patterns and image-solicitation in direct messages in real time across platforms, reports the shape and seriousness of a conversation rather than handing anyone a feed of what was said, and enables rapid escalation to the right authority in an emergency, working alongside law enforcement to surface threats before they crystallise into the material recovered in operations such as Blackwrist.
