Denmark: 25-year-old man charged with sextortion and grooming of 68 children

Guardii Analysis

The District Court in Svendborg, Denmark, began trial on 20 October 2026 of a 25-year-old man charged with sextortion and grooming involving 68 children, primarily aged 11 to 14. According to the indictment, the defendant contacted the children through Snapchat and OmeTV, a chat roulette service, persuading them to perform sexual acts on themselves and in some cases with others, which he watched live or received as images and videos. Police have identified 27 of the 68 child victims, who are from across Denmark and some from abroad; the defendant, in custody since March 2025, has pleaded not guilty, with a verdict expected in December following 15 scheduled trial days.

Guardii's anti-sextortion and anti-grooming detection modules are engineered to identify precisely this category of offending before the coercion succeeds. Operating in real time across Snapchat and other messaging platforms, the technology recognises sustained targeting, escalation from conversation to explicit requests, and the hallmark pressure tactics of sextortion and grooming, surfacing the conversation to a parent, school or law-enforcement liaison while the child is still in communication with the offender. In a case involving 68 children contacted serially through the same platforms, early-stage pattern detection could have interrupted the cycle at first contact, flagging the threat before any child was coerced into producing material and enabling intervention before harm occurred rather than prosecution after the fact.
