The European People's Party Group secured a landmark deal to crack down on sextortion, online grooming, and the use of artificial intelligence in child sexual abuse, following final negotiations on 22 June 2026. The new European law explicitly criminalises the production and distribution of tools used to generate AI child sexual abuse material, outlaws online predator manuals, and strengthens protection for victims across Europe. The legislation extends the limitation period for child rape, meaning victims across the EU now have the legal right to seek justice until they are at least 50 years old, eliminating short, arbitrary deadlines that previously allowed abusers to escape punishment.
Criminalising AI-CSAM generation tools and predator manuals is necessary but insufficient: offenders operate across borders and platforms in real time, and law enforcement prosecution—however well-resourced—remains a reactive, post-harm intervention that arrives after the child is victimised. Guardii complements EU enforcement infrastructure with point-of-contact prevention, deploying AI-specific CSAM detection, anti-grooming, and anti-sextortion modules across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord, and Roblox to intercept predatory contact and AI-generated exploitation material before it reaches a child, rather than waiting for the victim to report or for prosecutors to build a case years later. The EU's 50-year limitation period acknowledges that justice delayed is not justice denied, but Guardii's operational principle is simpler: justice is preventing the abuse from occurring at all. By flagging grooming patterns, blocking AI-generated CSAM distribution, and escalating sextortion attempts to the right authority in real time, Guardii addresses the cross-border, high-velocity threat the EU legislation targets—operating as the frontline technological defence that makes the legislative backstop less frequently necessary.
