Adebola Festus Adekunle was extradited from Nigeria to the United States to face charges in connection with the sextortion death of 16-year-old Walker Montgomery of Starkville, Mississippi. Montgomery died by suicide in 2022 after someone he met online demanded money and threatened to release sexually explicit video of him when he refused to pay. The FBI investigation revealed that other teenagers in the Starkville area had also been targeted by similar schemes. The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, FBI, and Mississippi Attorney General announced the arrest following years of international investigation and legal proceedings.
