A 12-year-old student in Patna, Bihar died following a sextortion scheme in which a Jharkhand man used generative artificial intelligence to edit the child's photographs into explicit nude deepfakes. The perpetrator, Sunil Sau from Hazaribagh, systematically threatened to circulate the fabricated media among the victim's school peers and social contacts, coercing the frightened child into making multiple electronic fund transfers. Patna Police arrested the suspect and uncovered an organized syndicate using AI-generated deepfake imagery to blackmail young victims into financial extortion.
